History

1881

"Mechanische Buntweberei Brennet, C. A. Hipp & Co."  is founded in the Öflingen district of Brennet

1884

The company takes over Öflingen colour weaving mill "Leupold & Cie"

The company becomes a family-owned public limited company, "Mechanische Buntweberei Brennet" (MBB)

From 1889 to 1937

Acquisition and take-over of various weaving mills and spinning mills such as "Baumgartner & Co." in Wehr (1889), "Krafftsche Kammgarnspinnerei Hausen" (1894), the "Vortisch & Co" weaving mill (1927) and the "Lampertsmühle AG" cotton-spinning and weaving mill (1937).

This paved the way for mass production.

1970

Rounding off of the company's ownership with the acquisition of "Dreiländereck Textilveredelung GmbH"

Brennet erweitert 1970 ihre Ausrüstung durch Übernahmen Dreiländereck, 1957

1973

MBB renamed Brennet AG.

Following the acquisition of  factory sites in Berlin, the following two decades saw reconstruction and investment in the High Rhine and the Wiesental.

2011

At the start of May 2011, a major fire broke out at the Brennet facility in Hausen, which incinerated around 1180 tonnes of cotton and caused millions of euros worth of damage. Some sections of the building had to be torn down.

2012

As a result, production ceased at the spinning mill on 31st March 2012. Shortly after this, Brennet announced that it would discontinue its entire operations at the end of 2012.

2015

Relocation of the team from Germany to Herisau; still operating as German company Brennet Fashion GmbH
